Cucuron, Luberon

Cucuron is one of the most beautiful villages in Vaucluse, in the Luberon National Park. It has retained its Provençal authenticity and its atmosphere exudes an old-fashioned charm. Its heritage, its natural environment and its taste for good cuisine make it a very pleasant place for holidays.

What makes this village special?

Perfect for those interested in Medieval architecture, Cucuron is home to the Saint-Michel keep, the only remaining part of the original château, which now offers temporary exhibitions. After climbing to its summit, you can admire breathtaking panoramic views of the Luberon hills, Vaugines, Cadenet, Ansouis and the charming village rooftops. Leaving the keep, you wander past the the Notre-Dame-de-Beaulieu church, a magnificent building constructed in 1292 under the name of Notre-Dame-de-Pous. The Hermitage chapel (La chapelle de l’Ermitage) was a key monument in Medieval pilgrimages and also offers outstanding Luberon views.

With many activities on offer, such as fishing, hiking and mountain biking, the village also hosts several markets during the summer months, where you can buy fresh, local products and Provencal souvenirs. The main village square is the ideal place to enjoy some light shopping as well as traditional French cuisine.
