Bonnieux, Luberon

The old fortified village is located at the top of the valley of Lourmarin and dominated by an old church. This perched Provençal village is the ideal place to discover the region by bike or on foot and benefits from an exceptional panorama which extends from the Petit Luberon to the Monts du Vaucluse and as far as Mont Ventoux.

What makes Bonnieux special?

Hike from the bottom of the village to the 12th century church, reached by 86 steps, is a great way to keep in shape and enjoy one of the best views in the Luberon. The walk in the steep alleys will take you through tunnels, shaded alleys and winding alleys, offering remarkable residences, the remains of ramparts, fountains and washhouses. To the east of the church you will find a park where you can sit and take in the postcard-worthy scenery. Bonnieux has a wide variety of small shops, restaurants and cafes that are worth visiting. There reigns here a precious convivial and authentic atmosphere. On Friday morning, the market takes place on the Place du Terrail, in the heart of the village. Local producers and market gardeners sell delicious local produce. And the craftsmen offer their creations, not hesitating to share their know-how. On Wednesday mornings there is also a small market at the Cave de Bonnieux, 5 km away.

About ten kilometers from the village, the local market of Apt is a must. Renowned throughout the region, it attracts a large number of visitors. Apt is also home to several galleries and museums.
