A Perfect Retreat in Provence Un rifugio perfetto in Provenza
Our stay at this stunning house in Provence was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the sheer space and comfort it provided. Each of the bedrooms was spacious and featured its own (also large) en-suite bathroom, ensuring privacy and convenience for all guests. In fact, all rooms were large, airy, and wonderfully cool, offering a refreshing escape from the summer heat. On arrival, we were met by Celine, the housekeeper, who showed us all of the up-to-the-minute technological gizmos the house has to offer (the house really is equipped with everything you could possibly need, the computer server for the home looks as if it’d be at home at NASA). The modern kitchen was just wonderful, having state-of-the-art appliances and well-considered touches that made us want to update our kitchen at home. And on top of mezzanine hallways and the double height living room, table tennis table, zonal air-conditioning and vacuum cleaner that’s actually built into the walls….., the cellar is converted into a large home cinema with huge sofas - perfect for letting the children unwind with a good film after a long day exploring the local towns. Outside, the high fence and large remote-locking gate provide peace of mind, especially for families with young children, so we felt comfortable letting the children run around without having to follow them everywhere. The salt-water pool was the best possible entertainment system for the children, so much so that we had to abandon a couple of day trips! We also made full use of the outdoor kitchen, which came complete with a built-in barbecue, Big Green Egg, pizza oven, fridge, freezer, and even an outdoor dishwasher. Seating for a dozen made alfresco dining a real Mediterranean family affair. Also, for entertainment, the Petanque court was a charming addition, adding a fun touch to our afternoons..
Il nostro soggiorno in questa splendida casa in Provenza è stato a dir poco eccezionale. Dal momento in cui siamo arrivati, siamo stati colpiti dallo spazio e dal comfort che offriva. Ogni camera da letto era spaziosa e disponeva di un proprio bagno privato (anch'esso di grandi dimensioni), garantendo privacy e comodità a tutti gli ospiti. Infatti, tutte le camere erano ampie, ariose e meravigliosamente fresche, offrendo una fuga rinfrescante dalla calura estiva. All'arrivo siamo stati accolti da Celine, la governante, che ci ha mostrato tutti gli aggeggi tecnologici all'avanguardia che la casa ha da offrire (la casa è davvero dotata di tutto ciò di cui si può avere bisogno, il server del computer della casa sembra essere a casa della NASA). La cucina moderna era semplicemente meravigliosa, con elettrodomestici all'avanguardia e tocchi ben ponderati che ci hanno fatto venire voglia di aggiornare la nostra cucina di casa. Oltre ai corridoi soppalcati e al soggiorno a doppia altezza, al tavolo da ping pong, all'aria condizionata a zone e all'aspirapolvere incorporato nelle pareti....., la cantina è stata trasformata in un grande home cinema con divani enormi, perfetto per far rilassare i bambini con un buon film dopo una lunga giornata trascorsa a esplorare le città locali. All'esterno, l'alta recinzione e il grande cancello con chiusura a distanza garantiscono la massima tranquillità, soprattutto per le famiglie con bambini piccoli, così ci siamo sentiti a nostro agio nel lasciare che i bambini corressero in giro senza doverli seguire ovunque. La piscina con acqua salata è stata il miglior sistema di intrattenimento possibile per i bambini, tanto che abbiamo dovuto rinunciare a un paio di escursioni giornaliere! Abbiamo anche sfruttato appieno la cucina esterna, completa di barbecue incorporato, Big Green Egg, forno per pizza, frigorifero, congelatore e persino una lavastoviglie da esterno. I posti a sedere per una dozzina di persone hanno reso le cene all'aperto un vero e proprio affare di famiglia mediterraneo. Inoltre, per l'intrattenimento, il campo da petanque è stato un'aggiunta affascinante, aggiungendo un tocco divertente ai nostri pomeriggi.
