SACHA LICHINE, ARCHITECT OF THE ROSÉ RENAISSANCE Château d’Esclans, a truly singular estate, lies in the heart of Provence, just northeast of Saint-Tropez. When Sacha Lichine acquired the property in 2006, he set out with a bold and visionary ambition: to create the greatest rosés in the world. In doing so, he ignited what is now known as the “Rosé Renaissance.” Now entering its twentieth vintage, Château d’Esclans has become an emblematic reference, and the birthplace of Whispering Angel—an iconic wine that has redefined the perception of rosé worldwide.

The Brunel family has been involved in winegrowing since the 17th century. In 1945, Gaston Brunel acquired Château de la Gardine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, marking the development of the estate into its present form. Today, the estate is managed by several members of the family, spread over several generations, ensuring the continuity of know-how. The vineyard extends over fifty-four hectares, of which fifty hectares are devoted to red wines and four hectares to white wines, plus twenty hectares of forest surrounding the estate. Located in Aix-en-Provence, this vineyard benefits from an altitude of between 250 and 400 meters, in the Pinchinats district. Some plots, situated in a dominant position, offer unobstructed views of Sainte-Victoire and the surrounding landscape, in a typically Provencal setting.

Château de Mille, considered one of the oldest winegrowing estates in the Luberon, covers around 100 hectares, including 25 hectares of vines, between Apt and Bonnieux. Since 2018, the estate has been taken over by Constance and Lawrence Slaughter, who have embarked on a program to restructure the vineyards and modernize the facilities, while leading the restoration of the château. The vineyard is farmed organically, with a focus on preserving the natural heritage and expressing the terroir. The Château de Pampelonne vineyard is entirely located in the Côtes de Provence PDO, benefiting from a mild climate and constant sunshine. The grape varieties include rolle and ugni blanc for the whites, and grenache, syrah, carignan, cinsault, tibouren, mourvèdre and cabernet sauvignon for the reds. The proportion varies according to the vintage. At Château de Saint Martin, a 12th-century underground cellar dug into the rock by the monks of Lérins welcomes visitors to discover the estate. A twenty-minute audio-visual tour retraces the history of Provence, the winegrowing priory and the family that has shaped the estate over the centuries. This introduction provides a better understanding of the evolution of the estate and its roots in the region. The tour continues in an interactive museum space dedicated to spirits. A self-guided tour guides visitors through several cabinets of curiosities, presenting objects and information related to spirits from Provence and other regions. The whole offers an accessible approach to discovering both the history of the place and the traditions associated with spirits production.

Located in La Londe-les-Maures, this family-run winery is set in the heart of a Mediterranean terroir that benefits from plenty of sunshine and a maritime influence favorable to vine-growing. CHÊNE BLEU — LA VERRIÈRE Chêne Bleu wines are crafted at La Verrière, a medieval estate perched high in the Dentelles de Montmirail, at the foothills of the legendary Mont Ventoux.

Located near the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos du Calvaire is a family estate founded in 1923. Handed down from generation to generation, it was first developed by the Mayard family, then by the Roumieux family. Today, the estate is run by a new generation who continue the work in continuity. Vineyard management is based on organic farming, with particular attention paid to agroecology to promote biodiversity and soil sustainability. Each parcel is cultivated with respect for its environment, with the aim of producing wines that are representative of the appellation. The cuvées highlight the grape varieties and terroir characteristics of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Founded in the 13th century by the Knights Templar, the Commanderie de Peyrassol is located in the foothills of the Massif des Maures, between the Mediterranean and the Verdon. The estate covers some 850 hectares of forests, olive groves and garrigue, including an ancient vineyard. Acquired in 2001 by Philippe Austruy, the estate produces AOP Côtes de Provence wines. The site combines wine production and cultural activities, notably through a collection of contemporary art presented on the property. La Commanderie also welcomes visitors for tastings, meals, stays and events such as weddings and seminars, all year round.

Located on the Côte d’Azur, in the heart of the Saint-Tropez peninsula, in Gassin in the Var, Domaine Bertaud Belieu extends over 65 hectares bathed in Mediterranean light. Primarily dedicated to rosé wines, which represent 80% of its production, the estate is also recognised for the quality of its red and white wines under the Côtes de Provence AOP. Between sea and hills, the vineyard expresses the richness of its terroir, giving rise to wines that are both elegant, precise, and deeply rooted in their origin.

Château du Rouët is located in inland Provence, in a landscape marked by the red rocks of the Estérel, which protect the estate from northerly winds. Access is via a small Provencal road that gradually reveals the extent of the vineyard and its surroundings. The estate produces a range of rosé, white and red wines, which you can discover in the on-site tasting cellar. The history of the estate is closely linked to Angèle, the family's ancestor, who structured the vineyard by laying out the terraces around the cellar, digging a well and planting an oak tree that still stands today. She also contributed to the gradual expansion of the vineyard. The estate bears her name in tribute to her founding role and the work she undertook to develop the estate.

Located near Aix-en-Provence, Domaine de la Brillane covers fourteen hectares of vineyards facing Mont Sainte-Victoire. The vineyards are planted on Trévaresse soils, characteristic of the Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence appellation. Domaine de Lauzières traces its origins back to the 16th century, in a context marked by the history of the Alpilles. Rediscovered in 1992 by Gérard Pillon and his partner, the estate was then restructured to revive its viticultural potential. In 2011, Christophe Pillon took over the estate and continued its development, with an approach focused on the evolution of the estate and the enhancement of its terroir.

AUTHENTIC PROVENCE A BASTIDE, A DOMAIN Between Ménerbes and Bonnieux, an elegant 18th-century residence reveals itself—a restored farmhouse, faithful to the pure tradition of the Provençal mas. Set within 23 hectares of vineyards, La Bastide de Marie and the Domaine de Marie flourish, deeply rooted in authenticity and a true sense of place. The vineyard covers eleven hectares, planted with the main grape varieties of the Ventoux appellation. At Domaine des Peyre, contemporary art is present throughout the estate, between ancient buildings, olive groves and vineyards. The estate favors environmentally-friendly practices, excluding the use of chemical weedkillers in favor of mechanical tillage. Fertilization is based on organic inputs and the use of green manures, to preserve soil structure and balance. Clos d'Alari extends over 6 hectares of vines situated at an altitude of around 300 metres, on a clay-limestone terroir. Part of the vineyard is classified as AOC, the rest as IGP. The estate is farmed organically, with particular attention paid to soil life: no pesticides or herbicides, natural grassing and the use of green manure. The grapes are harvested by hand, at night, depending on the maturity of the plots. Vinification is minimal, with the use of indigenous yeasts and very little sulfur added at bottling. The winery is equipped with stainless-steel vats, complemented by oak and acacia barrels, as well as an amphora, allowing for different types of ageing. Harvesting takes place over several weeks, depending on the grape variety.

Clos d'Alari is a thirty-hectare agricultural estate located in Saint-Antonin-du-Var, near Lorgues. It is distinguished by its diversified production, symbolized by three main crops: vines, oak and olives. Run by a mother-daughter duo, the estate has been producing white, red and rosé AOP Côtes de Provence wines since 1998. It also offers vintage olive oil and fresh truffles in season. The vineyard is farmed organically, with particular attention paid to crop balance and product quality. Since 2013, the estate has welcomed visitors in a bastide converted into a guest house, offering an experience centered on staying at the property and discovering the surrounding setting.

Located in Roussillon, between the Ventoux and Luberon mountains, the Coulet Rouge estate is set in a landscape marked by the pines, hills and ochre cliffs characteristic of the region. The estate is a family project, run by two brothers and their father. Located in the heart of the Saint-Tropez peninsula, this estate extends over some 230 hectares, between the communes of Gassin and Ramatuelle. Created in 1900, it takes its name from the river that runs through the property. The vineyard is set in a typical Var coastal environment, between hills and sea, in an area marked by a long tradition of winegrowing.

The estate extends over 9 hectares in Bédoin, at the foot of Mont Ventoux, with parcels spread over several soil types combining sand, clay and alluvial formations. This geological diversity, combining alluvium, clay and conglomerate, favors deep-rooted vines and contributes to complex aromatic profiles. The vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate tempered by altitude and the influence of the Ventoux, with plots located between 280 and 400 meters. Located in Mormoiron, on the southern slopes of Mont Ventoux, this estate covers 38 hectares at an altitude of around 350 meters. The terraced vineyards benefit from plenty of sunshine and are planted on clay-limestone soils typical of the region. The estate is also developing a diversified agricultural activity, including the production of olive oil, cherries and muscat grapes. The whole reflects a multi-faceted approach, in keeping with Mediterranean farming traditions.

Situated on the heights of Mazan, at the foot of Mont Ventoux, this family-run estate is part of a polycultural approach combining vines, olive and cherry trees. The 15-hectare estate has been farmed organically since the 1980s, with a focus on biodynamic practices. The estate is also developing a hospitality activity, with accommodation integrated into the property, in a peaceful environment. All this is based on controlled production, combined with a commitment to quality and an attentive approach to the terroir and the environment.

For five generations, this family has been cultivating vines in Ramatuelle, in the heart of the Saint-Tropez peninsula. In 2022, Guillaume and Damien Rinaudo created their own domaine, starting with a confidential production before gradually expanding the operation. Today, the vineyard covers 16 hectares, cultivated organically under the Côtes de Provence appellation. The estate produces rosé, white and red wines, with a focus on terroir and grape quality. It's also a popular natural setting for outdoor activities such as hiking and climbing. The altitude and configuration of the site contribute to the growing conditions of the vineyards and the identity of the wines produced. Altitude brings cooler nights, favoring the balance and finesse of the wines. The thirteen-hectare estate produces around fifty thousand bottles a year. This scale allows precise monitoring of the vineyard and vinification, with a focus on quality and traceability.

The Sainte-Marie vineyard extends over 40 hectares of south-facing, sandy soil composed of schist, micaschist and quartz. The gentle slopes and Mediterranean climate, hot and dry in summer with cool nights, favor balanced ripening of the grapes. Vegetation cover is maintained for as long as possible, with natural upkeep ensured in particular by the passage of sheep. The vineyard is integrated into a wooded environment of cork oak, pine and arbutus, contributing to a rich biodiversity. The estate is certified to level 3 of High Environmental Value. Over twelve grape varieties are grown, including grenache, cinsault, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, mourvèdre, rolle and ugni blanc, with an average vine age of around 35 years.

This family estate, organically farmed since 1992, is located at the foot of Mont Ventoux. A STORY OF TRANSMISSION The story of the estate began in the mid-20th century with my grandparents, winegrowers in Gigondas. Beneath the Dentelles de Montmirail, in this remarkable terroir with its distinctive character, they cultivated the land and the vines with care and humility, working in harmony with nature to produce wines of true character. A generation later, I chose to carry the legacy forward. A winegrower by heritage and by conviction, deeply respectful of what has been passed down to me, I strive to honor their work while bringing my own sensitivity and passion. A continuity guided by the same commitment: to faithfully express the soul of this terroir.

In search of his first vineyard, Marcel Ott, a young Alsatian agronomist, journeyed as far as the sun-scorched landscapes of Algeria. It was ultimately in Provence—captivated by its light, its beauty, and the gentle presence of the Mediterranean—that he chose to settle in 1896, encouraged by his wife Elisabeth. Patiently, he came to understand the depth and complexity of this historic terroir before acquiring Château de Selle in 1912. With a clear and ambitious vision, he began shaping the estate with precision and care, determined to reveal the full nobility of Provençal wines. Clos Mireille and Château Romassan would later follow, developed with the same unwavering commitment to excellence. A pioneer of his time, Marcel Ott introduced a philosophy rooted in respect—for the land, for the vine, and for time itself. Low yields, meticulous craftsmanship, and a deep connection to nature became the foundation of a signature style: to do less, but to do it better. A vision that continues to resonate today. In 1932, this vision took on a new form. Marcel entrusted his son René with the creation of a bottle that would embody the spirit of Provence. Inspired by the region’s cypress trees and ancient amphorae, its silhouette remains an enduring icon—instantly recognisable, unmistakably Ott. Today, the Ott family continues this legacy with the same dedication: crafting rosé, white, and red wines of precision and elegance, each expressing a distinct facet of Provence through its terroir and microclimate.

Wine tasting is available without reservation. Seated at dedicated tables, visitors discover the different cuvées, with explanations on blends, soils and ageing methods. The experience also includes the discovery of three olive oils, each with a distinct profile. Guided tours of the winery are available on reservation. They follow the winemaking process, from the reception of the grapes to the ageing of the red wines in oak tuns. The tour takes in the vat room and barrel cellar, with explanations of the technical choices and methods used. The tour ends with a full tasting of the range. Visitors can then visit the boutique, offering a selection of wines, spirits and local products, or extend the experience on the terrace with a drink.

The vineyards stretch across the Luberon massif and the southern slopes of the Monts de Vaucluse, following the relief of hills and valleys right up to the riverbanks. This varied location contributes to the diversity of the terroirs. Vines grow alongside other local crops such as cherries, olives, truffles, lavender and market gardening. This agricultural diversity contributes to the identity of the landscape and the balance of the territory. The vineyards are punctuated by characteristic villages such as Lacoste, Ménerbes, Oppède, Bonnieux, Saignon, Lourmarin and Cucuron. These villages remain active thanks to local agriculture, notably the production of cherries, olive oil and truffles, while attracting visitors interested in a preserved environment. Located in the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon, the area evolves with the seasons, with variations in light, color and landscape that influence the setting and conditions of production.

Located near Les Baux-de-Provence, this family-run estate produces AOP Les Baux-de-Provence reds and rosés, and IGP Alpilles whites. The vineyard is planted with a variety of grape varieties, including grenache, syrah, cinsault, carignan, mourvèdre and cabernet-sauvignon for reds and rosés, and grenache blanc, rolle and roussanne for whites. All our wines are made in compliance with the appellation's criteria, guaranteeing a close link between the product, the terroir and the domaine's know-how.

Mas de la Dame is a family estate handed down through four generations, now run by Caroline Missoffe and Anne Poniatowski. It covers some 300 hectares, including 58 hectares of vines and 28 hectares of olive groves. Situated at the foot of Les Baux-de-Provence, on the southern slopes of the Alpilles, the vineyard benefits from a protected microclimate and a typically Mediterranean environment. The vines are planted on highly draining clay-limestone soils, composed of rocky scree, favoring good rooting. The mistral wind, frequent in the region, helps to keep the plots in good health. Together, these vineyards are rooted in their terroir, in close harmony with the Alpilles landscape.

Mas des Infermières is located in the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon, in a landscape of vineyards, olive groves and truffle oaks. The estate is set in a rural environment characterized by hills and farmland. Since 1992, the Scott family have been regular visitors, taking advantage of the setting for creative activities and relaxation. Today, the site remains a place associated with the life of the estate and its natural environment.

This estate, located at the foot of Les Baux-de-Provence, has a long history dating back to the 17th century, when the site was a farm linked to a seigneurial residence. The vineyard extends over 40 hectares, all of which are classified as AOP Les Baux-de-Provence. It benefits from a warm, sunny Mediterranean climate and poor limestone soils typical of the Alpilles region. These conditions favor the production of concentrated grapes, giving structured wines with good aromatic intensity and a certain complexity.

Located just a few minutes from the Cours Mirabeau, the Domaine du Pey Blanc is well known to the inhabitants of Aix-en-Provence. It is a regular address for wine purchases, particularly for meals with friends or family. The vintages, particularly the Provence rosés, are also found on the tables of many of the city's restaurants, both gourmet and more affordable. Produced in the Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence PDO, the estate's wines reflect the characteristics of the appellation, with profiles ranging from fresh, balanced wines to more structured cuvées. They are in line with local drinking habits and the region's gastronomic culture.

In the heart of the Plaine des Maures, this 46-hectare vineyard combines a contemporary approach with Provencal identity. The vineyard, managed organically, is part of a quality and sustainable approach. Production focuses on precise wine-making, with attention paid to the entire process.
