Domaine de Mourchon
The estate covers 35 hectares of limestone and clay soils, overlooking the Rhône valley.
The site's varied topography, combining differences in altitude, exposure and soils, enables each parcel to develop its own unique characteristics. This diversity is put to good use in the blending process, to create well-balanced, well-structured wines.
The vineyard is planted with grape varieties typical of the region, including Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault for the reds and rosés, and Viognier and Roussanne for the whites, with vines of varying ages.
The whole reflects an approach centered on the complementarity of terroirs and grape varieties, contributing to the complexity of the wines.
The estate is run according to organic and biodynamic practices, with constant attention paid to soil balance, biodiversity and vineyard resilience in the face of climatic conditions.
Work in the vineyards extends throughout the year, from winter pruning and foliage management to hand-picking at optimum ripeness.
The cellar, designed on several levels, operates by gravity, limiting mechanical intervention and allowing more precise work on the grapes.
Vinification is carried out by plot and by grape variety, in stainless steel, concrete, wood or ceramic vats, depending on the desired profile. Fermentation is mainly spontaneous, with controlled maceration to preserve the balance of the tannins.
Ageing takes place mainly in concrete vats, supplemented by a period in barrels for certain cuvées, to refine structure. The final blend is determined by the vintage and the characteristics of each wine.
The wines are then bottled after an extended ageing period, reflecting a precise, parcel-by-parcel approach to production.
