Mas de la Dame
The Alpilles > Les Baux-de-Provence
Mas de la Dame is a family estate handed down through four generations, now run by Caroline Missoffe and Anne Poniatowski. It covers some 300 hectares, including 58 hectares of vines and 28 hectares of olive groves.
Situated at the foot of Les Baux-de-Provence, on the southern slopes of the Alpilles, the vineyard benefits from a protected microclimate and a typically Mediterranean environment.
The vines are planted on highly draining clay-limestone soils, composed of rocky scree, favoring good rooting. The mistral wind, frequent in the region, helps to keep the plots in good health.
Together, these vineyards are rooted in their terroir, in close harmony with the Alpilles landscape.
The vineyard covers 58 hectares in a single block, most of which is currently in production. Some recently planted plots are still in the development phase, while replanting takes place after several years of fallow in order to clean up the soil.
The vines are grown without insecticides or weedkillers, with controlled use of copper and sulfur. Soils are worked mechanically and enriched with organic fertilizers. Vinification is certified organic.
Grape varieties grown include Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Carignan for reds and rosés, and Semillon, Clairette, Rolle, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne for whites.
Harvesting is entirely by hand. The grapes destined for the main cuvées are carefully sorted and vinified separately to preserve the expression of each plot.
