Coquillade Provence
With the rebirth of Domaine de la Coquillade, the project enters a new phase of development. This evolution is in keeping with the history of the site and its regional roots.
The estate reaffirms its commitment to the quality of its production, while enhancing its heritage and environment. This new phase marks our determination to continue the work we have begun, while remaining faithful to the standards established from the outset.
In the heart of the Luberon Regional Nature Park, Domaine de la Coquillade is set in a site whose origins date back to the 11th century, when the Cistercian monks of the Abbey of Sénanque established the first buildings.
A few centuries later, the first vines were planted, marking the beginning of the estate's winegrowing activity. This heritage has been handed down over time, between continuity of practices and successive evolutions.
In 2006, Andy Rihs undertook the transformation of the estate into a top-class hotel and winery, under the name of Aureto. After his death in 2018, his sons Oliver and Tobias Rihs continue to develop the estate, with a focus on sustainability and practices such as biodynamics.
In 2024, the estate was renamed Coquillade. This appellation refers to the crested lark, called "couquihado" in Provençal, a migratory bird associated with the Luberon region.
