What makes this village special?
The historic village of Saint-Tropez is a maze of narrow streets, shaded squares, and ochre-coloured houses that lead to the bustling Vieux Port, where early morning fishermen sell their catch alongside high-end restaurants and waterfront terraces. Strolling through the town reveals hidden gems such as the Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, known for its iconic bell tower, and the lively Place des Lices, where locals and celebrities gather for pétanque under the shade of towering plane trees.
Beyond the town, Saint-Tropez is famous for its beaches. With over forty beaches on the peninsula, options range from the lively Pampelonne Beach, home to legendary beach clubs such as Club 55 and Nikki Beach, to quieter stretches like Plage des Salins, where soft sand meets crystal-clear waters. The Sentier du Littoral, a coastal path winding along the peninsula, offers scenic walks with panoramic views of the Mediterranean.
Cultural enthusiasts will find plenty to explore. The Musée de l’Annonciade, housed in a 16th-century chapel, showcases works by Matisse, Bonnard, and other modern artists who were inspired by the light and colours of the region. The Gendarmerie and Cinema Museum provides a nostalgic look at Saint-Tropez's connection to French cinema, particularly the famous "Gendarme" film series starring Louis de Funès. Meanwhile, the Maison des Papillons, or Butterfly House, houses a unique collection of over 20,000 butterfly specimens from around the world, offering a fascinating insight into the region’s biodiversity.
Saint-Tropez is just as lively at night as it is during the day. The village is home to some of the most exclusive nightlife spots in the world, including Les Caves du Roy, VIP Room, and TIGrr, attracting an international crowd looking to dance until dawn. Whether you prefer a quiet evening at a waterfront bistro or an all-night celebration, Saint-Tropez will deliver.
