Ramatuelle, Var

A picturesque medieval village in the heart of nature, Ramatuelle rises on the foothills of the hill of Paillas and thus dominates the bay of Pampelonne. Its typical architecture of Mediterranean villages and its fine sandy beaches attract a large number of curious people every summer.

Why this city?

Typically Provençal, Ramatuelle is the promise of a pleasant stopover in the heart of the Var countryside. The village stands out for its authenticity and tranquility and is characterized by an original shape: that of a snail .

Ramatuelle has a few curiosities to discover such as the 19th century Eiffel staircase century located on the place Gabriel Péri, the Font-d'Avaou washhouse dating from the 17th century century, the old prisons built under Napoleon III , the Notre-Dame church and the Sainte-Anne chapel.

In summer, the village comes alive with various popular events such as the Ramatuelle festival, " Music in Freedom " or " Jazz in Ramatuelle " .

Not to be missed on holiday in Ramatuelle

Pampelonne Beach , which stretches over 27 hectares, has become one of the most famous in the world. Three establishments have mainly forged this notoriety: Tahiti Beach, The Club 55 and L'Epi Beach which are frequented by personalities from cinema, fashion, music and politics.

Take a walk towards the coastal path , along coves and beaches , each one more beautiful than the other! The small family beach of Escalet is perfect for a moment of relaxation with friends or family. Enjoy the sound of the waves in complete serenity .

From Cap Taillat, you overlook the sea! This magnificent site is still wild and the water is exceptionally clear .

Cap Camarat is a green lung with its forest massif composed mainly of cork oaks and shrubs such as strawberry tree . Take its coastal path to visit the Camarat lighthouse and admire the panoramic view.

Visit the center of the village with its porches, its stairs, its passages, its small squares, its narrow cobbled streets , its pretty flower- decked houses , its craft and painting shops. T he main square has retained its original designation known as de l'Ormeau . On Thursdays and Sundays, the Provençal market enlivens this square, its restaurants and its renowned bars .

At a place called Les Moulins de P aillas , the windmills built between the 16th and 19th centuries century ground wheat to produce flour. One of them can be visited for free. You can get there from the top of the village of Ramatuelle towards Gassin.

Places to visit on holiday from Ramatuelle

Village perched in the middle of the peninsula of Saint-Tropez, Gassin was elected "Most Beautiful Village of France" and offers visitors a breathtaking view and a dazzling panorama. Come and enjoy a good meal accompanied by a wine from Provence on the terrace of one of the restaurants in the village.

Appreciated for a long time by artists, do not miss the city of Saint-Tropez which always seduces for its beaches and its nightlife.
