Jouques, Aix-en-Provence

To the north-west of the Bouches-du-Rhône department, Jouques is a small, typically Provençal village and a true haven of peace. Located between the Sainte-Victoire mountain and the Luberon, it will amaze you with its architectural beauty.

A clock tower, majestic staircases and sumptuous residences from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, built by the former lords of the village. Jouques was once the summer residence of the archbishops of Aix-en-Provence. The Notre-Dame-de-la-Roque chapel , from the 12th century, dominates the roofs of the village. The view is breathtaking!

The Rural Museum of Local History of Jouques, installed in the old Saint-Jean chapel, evokes scenes of local life and contains a collection of very old ex-votos.

The beauty of the landscapes, the light and the colors here have inspired many artists, who present their works during temporary exhibitions. Some have their workshop in the village.
