Velleron Farmer’s Market (Monday to Saturday, 18:00 – 20:00)
From April to September, the Velleron Farmer’s Market is open and raring to delight those who believe that “fresh is best”. Rated one of the top 100 most exceptional markets in France, any shopping experience here will leave your basket filled to the brim with produce that was only harvested a few hours before!
Top tip: since these farmers are only selling produce harvested that day, each stall is quite small. Arrive early to have the best selection!
L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Market (Thursday and Sunday, 08:00 – 13:00)
We truly believe that a stay in Provence cannot be complete without a visit to the European capital of antiques, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. On Sundays, the entire town is taken over by market stalls of which over 300 sell precious and fascinating relics. On Easter weekend and the weekend of 15th August, this rises to over 500 market stalls… a dream for antique-lovers.
Les Halles d’Avignon (Tuesday to Sunday, 08:00 – 13:00)
The perfect morning outing for cloudy or rainy days! Uniquely, Les Halles Market is indoors and home to some amazing events… shellfish tasting experiences, wine tastings and even live cooking demonstrations using ingredients bought from one of the 40 market stalls.
Top tip: park in the nearby multi-storey car park for minimum fuss and bother.
Apt Market (Saturday, 08:00 – 13:00)
Encased within the twisting streets of Apt, you will find the biggest market in the Luberon. With over 300 stalls, it is easy to see why this market has been voted one of the best in the region. Keep an eye out for the freshly-made pastries and candied fruit (fruit confit) … your taste buds won’t want you to miss them!
Aix-en-Provence Market (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, 08:00 – 13:00)
Our favourite place to mooch! Not only does the Aix-en-Provence market have everything our hearts desire (clothing, antiques, flowers, food) but it is simply a beautiful Provençal town. In between shopping, you will not be able to resist wandering in the direction of stunning fountains or eye-catching architecture.
Top tip: although the Aix-en-Provence market is open daily, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are when all of the stalls are open.
