Domaine Château du Rouët

Château du Rouët lies at the foot of the red rocks of the Estérel mountain range, with the Fréjus plain in the background. The vineyard, laid out in terraces and firebreaks, has always helped to protect the surrounding forest.

The vineyards extend over more than seventy hectares, between the Pennafort and Blavet gorges, in a protected area classified Natura 2000. They are surrounded by a varied forest environment, combining Mediterranean species with rarer species such as redwoods, cedars and bamboos.

The terroir is based on Permian red sandstone soils, combined with rhyolite volcanic formations and local alluvium. This geological composition, characteristic of the Fréjus region, has a direct influence on the profile of the wines.

Facing due south, the vines benefit from both the mistral and maritime influences from the Argens estuary. Some plots, such as those at La Péguière de Victor and L'Y, lie on alluvial deposits from the ancient Paleo-Endre river, whose course has been modified by the geological evolution of the massif.

This natural and geological context helps define the vineyard's identity and the characteristics of its cuvées.
