Jouques

To the north-west of the Bouches-du-Rhône department, Jouques is a small, typically Provençal village and a true haven of peace. Located between the Sainte-Victoire mountain and the Luberon, it will amaze you with its architectural beauty.

A clock tower, majestic staircases ^and sumptuous residences from the 16th, 17th ^and ^18th centuries, built by the former lords of the village. Jouques was once the summer residence of the archbishops of Aix-en-Provence. The Notre-Dame-de-la-Roque ^chapel , from the 12th century, dominates the roofs of the village. The view is breathtaking!

The Rural Museum of Local History of Jouques, installed in the old Saint-Jean chapel, evokes scenes of local life and contains a collection of very old ex-votos.

The beauty of the landscapes, the light and the colors here have inspired many artists, who present their works during temporary exhibitions. Some have their workshop in the village.
