Commanderie de Peyrassol
French Riviera - Countryside > Flassans-sur-Issole
Founded in the 13th century by the Knights Templar, the Commanderie de Peyrassol is located in the foothills of the Massif des Maures, between the Mediterranean and the Verdon. The estate covers some 850 hectares of forests, olive groves and garrigue, including an ancient vineyard.
Acquired in 2001 by Philippe Austruy, the estate produces AOP Côtes de Provence wines. The site combines wine production and cultural activities, notably through a collection of contemporary art presented on the property.
La Commanderie also welcomes visitors for tastings, meals, stays and events such as weddings and seminars, all year round.
The vineyards of Château Peyrassol are planted on clay-limestone soils in a natural cirque offering a variety of exposures. This configuration, combined with a diversity of grape varieties, enables the production of certified organic wines, representative of the Provencal style.
The estate also boasts an important collection of contemporary art. Works of art are displayed in the vineyards, in the gardens, which have been awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label, and in various other areas of the site, offering an open-air artistic journey. Temporary exhibitions and artist residencies complete the program.
The Commanderie de Peyrassol has a tradition of welcoming and sharing. Several dining areas are available on site, with cuisine prepared using produce from the estate's kitchen garden and farm.
The site also hosts private and professional events, in an environment combining heritage, landscape and adapted infrastructures.
