Château Malherbe
Côte d'Azur / French Riviera > Cap Bénat
Since 1940, this family estate has been cultivating its vines on the seafront, in an environment marked by a long agricultural tradition.
The vineyards are planted on two distinct terroirs: one in the immediate vicinity of the sea, the other on slopes with predominantly schist soils, bringing complementary expressions to the wines.
Committed to an environmentally-friendly approach, the estate uses no synthetic chemicals and cultivates its vines biodynamically, certified Demeter since 2021.
All this reflects an approach focused on terroir, the preservation of natural balances and the quality of the wines.
Harvesting is carried out by hand, with sorting carried out directly in the vineyard and several passes through the oldest plots to ensure that the grapes are picked when perfectly ripe.
Each plot is vinified separately, respecting its own characteristics, before being blended according to cuvée. Intervention is limited, with very moderate use of sulfites, mainly at bottling.
The wines are produced from a rigorous selection of plots, particularly those over 50 years old or located on high ground with schistous soils. The grape varieties - Grenache, Mourvèdre and Cinsault for the rosés, Rolle and Semillon for the whites - express their full potential in this terroir.
Maturation, often prolonged, takes place in barrels, bringing structure and complexity. The most accomplished cuvées present precise profiles, marked by finesse and a faithful expression of terroir.
