Miramar Plage | Cannes

A Croisette institution since 2006, Miramar Plage sits in front of the Hotel Martinez with 130 sunbeds on white sand and 25 spots on a private pontoon extending directly over the sea. The décor - warm wood tones, terracotta, succulents - reads as a natural extension of the landscape rather than a design statement, and the overall atmosphere is one of relaxed, considered luxury. Chef Valérian Mangione leads a kitchen that brings Mediterranean classics into conversation with influences from further afield: a crudo bar, dry-aged cuts, wild-caught fish. On certain evenings, the beach comes alive with DJ sets and live performances. For a full Cannes beach day, this is the benchmark.

Castel Plage | Nice

Tucked beneath the Colline du Château at the eastern end of the Promenade des Anglais, Castel Plage is one of Nice's most enduring beach clubs. The setting is difficult to beat: sheltered by the cliff, open to the Bay of Angels, and with a terrace that sits close enough to the water that you can hear the Mediterranean from your sunbed. The restaurant serves refined Provençal and Mediterranean dishes - considerably more considered than the usual beach fare - and the atmosphere achieves that particular balance of relaxed and polished that the best Riviera clubs manage effortlessly. Arrive for a morning swim. You may find yourself still there as the light fades.

Marinières Plage | Villefranche-sur-Me

The bay at Villefranche-sur-Mer is frequently described as one of the most beautiful in the world, and from the sand at Marinières Plage, it is easy to understand why. This is one of the few genuinely sandy beaches on this stretch of coast, with crystal-clear water and a calm, unhurried atmosphere that sets it apart from the busier clubs further along the Riviera. The restaurant makes the most of the setting - grilled fish, seasonal produce, chilled rosé - and the service is warm without being intrusive. A particularly good choice for those who want the full Riviera beach experience without the full Riviera crowd.

Les P'tits Galets | Sainte-Maxime

Facing the Jardin Botanique des Myrtes on La Croisette in Sainte-Maxime, Les P'tits Galets has built a reputation that travels well beyond its modest address. The setting is genuinely lovely - turquoise water, fine sand, and a lush garden backdrop - and the atmosphere is relaxed in a way that feels considered rather than accidental. The team, led by Gordon and Karl, have created a place with real warmth: attentive service, a kitchen that takes charcoal grilling seriously, and a menu that shifts with the seasons and the produce available. Guests can eat on the wooden patio with views across the bay towards Saint-Tropez, or with their feet in the sand on the beach itself. Either way, it is the kind of lunch that becomes the afternoon.

Epi Beach | Antibes

Sitting on the seafront in Antibes with the old town behind you and the Cap d'Antibes stretching ahead, Epi Beach is a classic of the western Riviera. The club has an easy, sociable character and a menu that does exactly what a beach day calls for: fresh fish, well-dressed salads, chilled Provence rosé. The location also makes it a natural companion to a morning at the Marché Provençal or an hour at the Picasso Museum, both of which are a short walk away. Valet parking is available for those arriving by car. A reliable, well-placed choice at one of the Riviera's most engaging towns.
