Renovated Templar commandery with 360° panorama in Gordes
Of medieval origin, this restored commandery overlooks the Luberon valley from the centre of Gordes. Its protected façades and roofs, panoramic views and use of local stone root it in history. Within stone walls, terraced gardens and outdoor spaces extend a restoration using reclaimed materials, bespoke joinery and contemporary amenities. The infinity pool complements this dialogue between heritage and comfort.

Stone, sloping gardens and the Luberon horizon
Built in the 12th century, the former Templar commandery occupies a commanding position in the heart of Gordes village. Some of its façades and roofs are listed and protected by order of 5 August 1976. From this setting, the eye takes in the Luberon valley in a 360-degree view, within a landscape of which the property is an integral part.
Following an initial restoration by Parisians who lived here for around fifty years, it was acquired in 2006 by its current owner. Four years of work fully renovated all the buildings without altering their original structure. Local stone, stone slabs, oak beams and roof frames, solid wood joinery and bespoke ironwork attest to this restoration.
Exterior
The nearly 5,000 m² (approx. 53,820 sq ft) plot, entirely enclosed by stone walls, slopes gently in terraces. Its landscaped design combines numerous plant varieties, grassed stone slabs and a pond adorned with a fountain. A courtyard and planted terraces surround the residence; at the rear, a garage and large storage room house the technical equipment.
Pool
Overlooking the valley, the heated 15 x 5 m (49 x 16 ft) infinity pool extends the relaxation areas. A tower converted into a pool house accompanies this space and its opening onto the landscape.
Pool heating availability and pricing
Pool heating is available throughout the entire rental period, included.
Interior
The reception areas extend across the three levels of the main residence. The fitted Mouvement kitchen, designed for private use as well as for a chef, sits alongside a former chapel and wine cellar. Home automation, a lift, heating and air conditioning are among the systems renewed during the works.
Bedrooms
The six en-suite bedrooms in the main residence form part of the complete renovation of the buildings. The independent caretaker's apartment, at the rear, adds two bedrooms. The sanitary installations were renewed during the works, while respecting the original structure.
