Axel is one of our Luberon specialists and heads up sales for Provence Holidays. With a background in real estate and a sharp eye for quality, he plays a key role in helping both owners and guests find the perfect match - whether renting a villa or buying a home.
Real estate roots and a passion for Provence
Fluent in French, English, and German, Axel is comfortable working with international clients. “Languages came naturally,” he says. “I grew up learning Dutch or German at school, and my grandfather was German, so it stuck.”
Born and raised in Belgium, Axel made the move to the South of France over a decade ago when his parents decided to settle in the region. “It was the best decision I ever made,” he says. “I feel very connected to this part of the world.” Axel’s career began on the construction side of real estate, working as a sales representative for a building materials company. It gave him a strong foundation in property and project development - knowledge he now applies to the luxury rental and sales market.
After ten years in the industry, including the past two with Provence Holidays, Axel now focuses on sourcing beautiful homes, building long-term relationships with owners, and guiding buyers through the process of making Provence their own. When he does get the chance to travel, he loves discovering new cultures - but his last big trip was five years ago, to New York. “It was one of the most inspiring places I have ever been,” he says. “The energy is completely different.” “I have two favourite parts of the job,” he says. “First, discovering new properties and hearing their stories. Second, building trust with people - owners and buyers alike.”
Favourite village | Bonnieux
“I have a thing for villages built on hills,” he says, “and Bonnieux was one of the first I visited when I moved here - so it has always stuck with me.”
Axel’s favourite village is Bonnieux, a classic hilltop destination in the heart of The Luberon. He recommends heading to Terrasse de Bonnieux, a relaxed restaurant with excellent views, where locals and visitors come together. “In summer, they even host DJ nights. It is the kind of place where you can have a great meal, stay for drinks, and end up dancing under the stars.” Whether for a stroll through its cobbled streets or a glass of wine overlooking the valley, Bonnieux is a village that stays with you.

“It is for people who want a deeper connection to Provence,” he explains. “You are not just staying here - you are living here, even if just for a week.”
Axel’s second favourite villa is Mas des Collines, a peaceful property that sits high above The Luberon with uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. “It has the same beautiful balance of privacy and style as Le Vallon Secret,” he says, “but the view gives it something extra.” If he were to spend a week here, it would be all about pace and place: slow mornings with coffee on the terrace, local market visits, a few hours by the pool, and golden hour walks through the hills.

“It’s one of those places that really lives up to its name,” he says. “Completely hidden away, but beautifully designed and incredibly comfortable.”
