Plan your visit to Château Pesquié wine estate in Provence today
In the foothills of Mont Ventoux, tucked away in the quiet valley of Mormoiron, Château Pesquié offers an experience that goes far beyond the bottle. This family-run wine estate has earned international acclaim not only for the quality and creativity of its cuvées, but also for its forward-thinking approach to sustainable viticulture and visitor experience.
Château Pesquié | A standout Ventoux wine experience
Unlike some of the more frequented stops along the Côtes du Rhône wine route, Château Pesquié is slightly off the traditional path, and all the better for it. Set within a green and peaceful valley, the estate is framed by views of Mont Ventoux and approached via a grand avenue of plane trees. It feels quietly removed, yet entirely welcoming. Owned by the Chaudière family for three generations, the domaine is today led by brothers Alexandre and Frédéric, whose commitment to organic practices and precision winemaking is evident in every detail. The wines are expressive, elegant, and deeply connected to the terroir of Ventoux.
What to expect at Château Pesquié
Upon arrival, you are welcomed into an elegant and bright boutique showcasing wines and local products. At the bar, a team of skilled professionals offers guided tastings tailored to your curiosity. The estate’s signature cuvées - including the Terrasses, Quintessence, and Artemia ranges - are poured with insight and warmth. Behind the tasting room, the cellar is open to visitors, giving a glimpse into the vinification process and the estate’s commitment to gentle, gravity-fed techniques. You can easily walk through the surrounding vineyard by booking the “vineyard trail" at the cellar, or enjoy a picnic in the majestic gardens of the château (also by reservation). It is a relaxed yet refined way to experience the landscape and the wines it produces, ideal for couples, groups, or even families looking for a slower Provençal afternoon.
The Chaudière family legacy at Château Pesquié
What sets Château Pesquié apart is not only its setting or its wine, although both are reason enough, but the sense of care and curiosity that defines the entire experience. This is a working estate with roots in tradition, but a modern outlook on hospitality, sustainability and innovation. The estate itself has deep historical roots, having passed through the hands of the Counts of Mormoiron, the Marquis de Reilhanette, and the Lords of Maubec. For the past fifty years, it has been in the hands of the Chaudière family, who have preserved the grandeur of this Provençal château while investing in its future. The family’s story here began in the early 1970s when Odette and René Bastide took on the enormous task of restoring the château and developing its vineyards. They arrived just as the Mont Ventoux AOC was created in 1973, and were among the first to believe in the area's potential for producing high-quality wines.
Their daughter Édith and her husband Paul Chaudière took over in the mid-eighties, bringing a new level of ambition to the domaine. They left the local cooperative, built the estate’s own cellar, and produced their first wines in 1990, a vintage still remembered for its exceptional quality. Today, the third generation, brothers Alexandre and Frédéric, continue to lead the estate, combining the family’s pioneering spirit with a progressive approach to viticulture and visitor experience. If you are spending time near Mont Ventoux, or even planning a day trip from the Luberon, Château Pesquié offers something personal, well-paced, and distinctly Provençal. It is the kind of place you discover once, and then recommend to everyone who asks.
