Beautiful new house with contemporary style in Roussillon

Beautiful new house with contemporary style in Roussillon

What we like

Views: the house has an extraordinary high, wraparound view that will inspire and delight.
Location: in quiet countryside but a short distance into the buzzing village of Roussillon.
Design: living room and outside merge into one space – you don’t get that with the older Provencal houses – as well as air-conditioned bedrooms.
Outside: amid the pine trees it’s a peaceful vibe and everywhere outside there is the view.

Things to note

Pool safety: the pool has a rigid, motorised cover for security but extra care should be taken with young children.

2km from the village of Roussillon on a hill lined with pine trees, with sweeping views of  the Luberon, this beautiful interior designed villa benefits from a chic contemporary interior.
Surrounded by private land of over 1.2 hectares this property is ideal for spending a relaxing time amongst family and friends.

Exterior

From the terrace, garden and pool there is a fabulous view to the south. The hilltop villages of Bonnieux and Lacoste are framed against the backdrop of the Luberon mountain.
There are 3 acres (1.25ha) of garden with terrace, pool area and pine trees.
Outdoor dining can be on the terrace under an awning, or in the garden under the shade of the pergola alongside the bbq.
Secure parking is to the rear of the house, and the entrance to the property is gated.

Pool

The pool is heated from May to October and measures 10m x 4.2m (33ft x 14ft). The pool has a sliding rigid cover for security, roman steps at one end and safety step along the sides. Around the pool are sun loungers and parasols, and of course that view.

Interior

Villa Roussillon is a single-storey, contemporary villa with air-conditioned bedrooms, with the large living and dining room at the centre, and bedrooms to the sides. From the living room the wide sliding windows disappear into the walls to merge the inside and outside spaces.
Living Room: a big space with leather sofas around a fireplace and TV/DVD in one half of the room, and the dining table in the other half. There are both French and English-language channels on the TV, and high-speed WiFi internet.
Kitchen: equipped with oven, 4-ring stove, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, filter coffee machine, and Nespresso. The kitchen also opens onto the south-facing terrace.
Laundry Room: with washing machine, tumble dryer and a second fridge-freezer.
Study: writing desk and day-bed, next to the master bedroom.
Guest WC.

Bedrooms

Villa Roussillon sleeps 8 people with 4 air-conditioned double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, all on the ground floor, and each bedroom has its own TV/DVD with satellite channels.

Bedroom 1: with a king-sized double bed and an ensuite with a bath, double basins and a toilet. The master bedroom opens up onto the main terrace.
Bedroom 2: with a queen-sized double bed and an ensuite with a shower, basin and toilet.

Living the dream
score

A wonderful week spent in this magical place. A house decorated with taste and thought for relaxation, and for admiring the landscape. Terraces and rest areas to enjoy nature, find shade or sun, be together or separate. Evenings around the barbecue, grilling ribs of beef or lobster while watching Bonnieux and Lacoste light up at sunset, the last rays on Bonnieux, then the moon rising. The first cicadas in the morning in the delicious freshness that fades slowly. Admire the landscape in the large leather armchair in front of the bay window. The dream !

Marvellous!
score

We have stayed in many places in France but the Luberon pulls us back everytime. This house and setting is the best we have found. I can say that in this book but would love to keep it a secret ! Being amongst the trees, the views and having so much sky has been truly wonderful. Johanne and her team have helped us at any moment with effective communication. We love this property and (many people say this) we do plan to return.

Merci beaucoup!
score

I have only one complaint at the end of our 10 day stay at Villa Rousillon - how can one return to everyday life after living in a tease from heaven ? Each morning has brought a unique sunrise penetrating through the surrounding terrain (this morning the valleys were filled with mist as we sat like Zeus above with the sun !) After days of marvelling over the ancient villages, each with their own delicious charm, it felt like we were coming home and couldn't wait for a glass of wine to accompany another sunset of unfailing beauty. The views are insurpassable - but even on a day filled with rain and wind, we could enjoy our holiday in the cosy interior with its warm and spacious atmosphere. My children (5 and 6 yrs old) have spent their days happily making fairy houses in the forest and swimming enjoying all the delphins, noodles, balls available at the pool. Merci beaucoup very special owners avec impeccable taste !

Roussillon

Located in the Luberon regional natural park at the foot of the Vaucluse mountains, Roussillon is ranked among the most beautiful villages in Franc. It is also one of the most atypical towns.
