Village house with a garden and a swimming pool in the heart of the Alpilles

With an enchanting garden, a pool table, air conditioning, ensuite bedrooms, a heated swimming pool, and a garage

Come and spend memorable moments with your loved ones in one of the finest buildings in Maussane-les-Alpilles. This tastefully renovated historic house effortlessly blends its heritage charm with modern comfort. The old chapel with high, vaulted ceilings and ancient engravings is a unique highlight of this exceptional holiday home.

The Notre-Dame-de-Piété chapel was built at the beginning of the 16th century and first entrusted to a chaplain in 1540. Although it was considerably enlarged in the 18th century, the chapel never achieved the status of a parish church, and one mass per week was celebrated in it. Nevertheless, La Chapelle remained a central place for social, political, and religious life in Maussane.

La Chapelle was serving as a community centre when, after 14 February 1790, the municipal government of Maussane-les-Baux decided to settle in Maussane. Subsequently, on 28 November 1791, the chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Piété was sold to Antoine Quenin, whose heirs in 1830 enlarged and built the house we know today.

Please note

Pool safety: The pool is not gated, therefore, young children should be supervised by adults at all times when nearby.

Maussane Les alpilles

29 July 2023

Very nice house with a lot of atmosphere
score

Very nice house with a lot of atmosphere, e.g. a 500 year old vaulted ceiling in the living room. The kitchen and dining area inside/outside are very successful, well equipped and make every day a lot of fun. The pool is gorgeous. The neighborhood is quiet and well-kept. In the village everything is within walking distance. There are numerous restaurants and bars on the church square. There are small shops on the main street. The proximity to Les Baux is also great. In 5 minutes you are there and can enjoy a wonderful view at sunset.

Location

Maussane-les-Alpilles

At the foot of the Alpilles chain and a few kilometers from Baux-de-Provence, Maussane is a pleasant village which stretches out in a valley in the middle of olive groves. Center of olive production, it has some historical curiosities and offers visitors typical Provence activities.
