Crillon-le-Brave, Mont Ventoux

Crillon-le-Brave is one of the 11 hilltop villages in the region. To visit it is to gain height, enjoy breathtaking views of Mont Ventoux and fall under the spell of an authentic village. History buffs, wine lovers and sports enthusiasts will find something to satisfy their passion.

What makes this village special?

This village owes its name to the village council, which, in the 19th century, decided to baptize it after its lord Louis des Balbes de Berton de Crillon nicknamed "the brave of the brave". A huge bronze statue of the latter welcomes you at the entrance to the village. Crillon-le-Brave has a rich heritage, which it is pleasant to discover by getting lost in the labyrinth of old stone houses which have retained their Provençal style of yesteryear and many buildings in an excellent state of conservation.

In Crillon-le-Brave, you can admire the belfry and its campanile mounted on a 17th century door, the Notre-Dame-des-Accès chapel with its arched bell tower, the Romanesque-style Saint-Romain church, entirely built in stone, in a small square. Inside, there is a carved wooden altarpiece by Bernus, a great sculptor of the 17th century .

It is good to stroll in this pretty village, enjoy the sun and the magnificent panoramas. A few cafes and restaurants invite you to take the time to live and relax in front of unforgettable landscapes of vineyards and wooded hills, with the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux in the background. Wine lovers can stop at one of the wine estates for a tasting of red, rosé or white. As for athletes, they can indulge in different activities: cycling, hiking, paragliding, horse riding or climbing.
